Human Resources: Mentor Program
SURVEYS
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the CCISD Mentor Program is to facilitate the growth of early career teachers through partnerships which encourage reflective practice, improve the instructional repertoire, and increase student performance.
SUPPORT COMPONENTS
- New Teacher Orientation
This week-long event is designed to welcome new teachers to CCISD, introduce them to the administration and staff within the district and at home campuses, and provides new teachers the information and tools needed to get off to a great start in their new role. The event is much-celebrated in CCISD and in the community! - Experienced Mentors
A teacher who serves as a resource and assist you throughout the year. - Campus Lead Mentor
An expert teacher on each campus who facilitates mentor/mentee relationships and coordinates campus-based professional development. - Observation and Instructional Coaching
1st & 2nd year teachers are given opportunities to learn from master teachers and instructional specialists through observations, modeled lessons, guided practice, and feedback. - Meaningful Professional Development
Workshops designed for the developing teacher are offered monthly in a mini-session format. Topics range from Classroom Management to Effective Communication with Parents to Engagement or Collaboration Strategies as part of the Common Learning Framework. - Campus-Based Programs
Support programs designed to meet the needs of the new teachers on each campus are led and implemented by campus administration and campus lead mentor. These programs offer teachers a variety of support opportunities as well as a social venue to connect with. - Cross-District Mentorships
Special attention is paid to teachers who are ‘singletons’ on a campus. District coordinators work to pair these new teachers with master teachers in the same subject from across the district to offer curricular and instructional support in the content area.
