CCISD BOARD OF TRUSTEES HONOR STUDENTS AND STAFF
League City – On Monday, October 22, 2012, the Clear Creek ISD Board of Trustees honored students and staff while also proclaiming this as “Red Ribbon Week.” The District marks this annual event in hopes of raising awareness about the importance of children making good choices and remaining drug and alcohol free.
During the regular board meeting, trustees and Superintendent Dr. Greg Smith also recognized CCISD’s Coordinator of Visual and Performing Arts, Mary Lou Johnson. She recently was named the Texas Art Educators Association (TAEA) Supervisor of the Year. Johnson was nominated for this honor by CCISD teachers in the areas of visual and performing arts. This award is given to educators who expand and advance the standard of art education and the teaching practices throughout Texas as well as promote art as an integral part of the curriculum.
The final board recognition of the evening was of the 2013 National Merit Semifinalists in CCISD. In September students were notified of their advancement in the scholarship program. The Clear Creek Independent School District is proud to honor 39 students at five CCISD high schools who were selected as National Merit semifinalists.
