2013 TEXAS BLUEBONNET NOMINEE SELECTED BY CCISD STUDENTS
League City -- After January voting results were tallied at all 26 elementary campuses in Clear Creek ISD, we are pleased to announce that the District third, fourth, and fifth grade students have selected Postcards from Camp: A Postal Story by Simms Taback as their pick to win the Texas Bluebonnet Award. This picture book is about a young boy named Michael who writes letters back and forth with his father about his experiences at camp. “It is a great read with subtle humor and entertaining illustrations that made it a favorite among students,” according to Joan Peeples, Brookwood librarian.
The Texas Bluebonnet Award is an annual state-wide award selected by students across the state. The award is sponsored by the Texas Library Association. A list of twenty titles is announced each November at the Texas Book Festival. Students in grades 3-6 are then challenged to read at least five of the twenty titles to be eligible to cast their vote at their campus elections. The state-wide winner will be announced on February 8, 2013.
