CCISD CONGRATULATES NEW SPELLING BEE CHAMPS
League City -- Syamantak Payra spelled “Nordic” and “proficient” to win the CCISD Spelling Bee for the third year in a row. The 7th grader from Westbrook Intermediate will represent CCISD at the Houston PBS Spelling Bee on March 23.
Payra won the 2013 CCISD Spelling Bee on Saturday, February 9 at Mossman Elementary School in League City, Texas. Elida Met-Hoxha, a 5th grader from League City Elementary School finished second.
The 2013 Houston PBS Spelling Bee will be televised live on Channel 8. The top 55 spellers from 1,040 schools in 42 counties, from East Texas to Austin, will compete for the opportunity to participate in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. The top two winners from the Houston PBS Spelling Bee will participate in the National Spelling Bee in Washington DC in May.
