Clear Creek Independent School District

Dear Bulldog Families:

I am happy to say that we have had an incredible start to the school year. It is hard to believe that we have already completed the first 9 weeks. Our students have had an outstanding beginning, in both academics and extracurricular, and we are quite proud of them.

We have had many students involved in activities since the beginning of school. Football has had a great season and they have had much support from our new Boy’s Athletic Booster Club. The volleyball teams have been enthusiastic and have improved every week. The cheerleaders put on a spectacular pep rally at the end of September igniting school spirit. Basketball and cross country will begin soon. LDC has won awards at competitions they have attended. Our Drama Club has already participated in several drama festivals bringing home record numbers of awards. Our bands, orchestra, and choir have produced some unbelievable concerts for all of us. Our Band Booster Club has also been a great asset in supporting our students.

On the academic side, for the first time at Brookside we are all taking part in a Read it Forward program. This program is one that encourages students to read. The activity began with a pep rally and the help of the Clear Springs High School drum line and the Clear Brook Celebrities officers. We always appreciate our alumnae returning to our campus as positive role models for our younger students. Ask your child if they have read the book, Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie. We are asking everyone on campus to take part. Later in the year, we will complete a service project relating to the book. You should be very proud of your children for taking part in this program.

Students, please be involved in something that interests you. There are many opportunities for you to participate in other activities along with your academics. In addition to music, theatre, and athletics, there are other clubs such as Science Club, Chess Club, and Spanish Club. If you have questions, please ask someone to help you. We have something for everyone at Brookside!

Parents, please stay in touch. One of our biggest changes has been the implementation of the Parent Self Serve Program. This is taking the place of K-12 Planet. You can check your student’s grades and attendance regularly. Go to the ccisd.net website to try it out. If you have difficulty, please call us.

Please take care of yourself as we move into the winter season. We need all of our students to stay healthy and be at school. We want everyone to continue on the successful path they have begun this year.

Sincerely,
Deanna Daws
Principal
