Message from the Principal
I am amazed that we are already in the second nine weeks. The year seems to be zooming by! The first nine weeks have been filled with fun and excitement both in and out of the classroom. Football and volleyball are getting close to finishing their seasons, and basketball is about to get underway. There have been numerous field trips and activities off campus in Language Arts, Social Studies, Theater, and Science, to name a few. But the most excitement is right here on campus. As I walk the halls and visit classes, there are relevant, interesting and fun activities everywhere. The students’ engagement in their own learning is critical for success. Learning while having fun is a wonderful combination for our students, and our teachers work diligently to provide this atmosphere for our students.
VLI is participating in the Read It Forward program which encourages students to read. We kicked off the program with a pep rally to explain the program and get the students excited about the book Drums, Girls and Dangerous Pie. There continue to be activities associated with this program. It is only one of many creative, fun and exciting activities on campus.
Our students and their activities have been highlighted numerous times on the CCISD website. Our PTA website also highlights our student activities and successes. Please utilize these locations to stay informed and see the exciting things happening at VLI. In addition, there is a Principal’s Newsletter which is sent home with each progress report and report card to help keep you informed. But the most important communication is the conversations between parents and teachers. Please utilize the new Parent Self-Serve to keep updated on your student’s academic progress along with keeping the lines of communication open between parents and VLI staff. Together we will work to insure our students’ success.
