Whitcomb Circulation Information
Checking Out Books:
- Kindergarten and first grade students may check out 1 book for two weeks.
- Second through fifth grade students may check out 2 books for two weeks.
- Students visit the library as a class every other week.
- Students may visit the library any time to return, renew or check out a book with their teacher’s permission.
Overdue, Lost and Damaged Books:
- There are no fines for overdue books, however, students may not check out books until overdue books are cleared.
- Overdue notices are handed out every other week.
- Lost and heavily damaged books must be paid for so replacements can be purchased.
- A fine will be assessed for lightly damaged books to pay for repairs.
General Information:
- Students may use the internet for class projects if the CCISD Acceptable Use Policy has been returned with a parent signature.
- Office 2000 is loaded on the computers in the library, and students are encouraged to use Word and Powerpoint when completing class projects.
- The 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students are encouraged to participate in the Bluebonnet Reading Program. There are twenty books nominated for the Bluebonnet Award. Students in these grades, who have read at least five of the twenty books, may vote for their favorite at the end of January. Their votes, along with the votes of other third, fourth, fifth, and sixth graders across the state of Texas, determine the winner of the Bluebonnet Award!
Resources:
- Students have access to books, periodicals, and online databases.
- Eight student workstations are available for catalog searches, word processing, and internet access.
- There is no charge for printing from the computer workstations.
