5th Grade students visit their intermediate campus (January/February) and are introduced to each of the fine arts programs at that school.
If a student decides to sign up for either Band or Orchestra as their elective,
- The name of the student is given to the director of that program.
- The director contacts the parents and invites them to an orientation of some sort.
- The band usually holds an instrument night to visit with prospective members individually to determine an instrument that suits that particular student (Usually in May).
- After the student has selected the instrument they wish to play, they are given a list of “suggested” instruments to shop from and information about reliable music companies in our area.
- Students can either rent or purchase and instrument during this period so that they are ready for class in the Fall.
