CCISD Releases Community-Based Accountability Report
CCISD Exceeds State Standards

League City, Texas- When asked to identify the characteristics to judge a quality education system, the community of the Clear Creek Independent School District identified priorities such as how well a school meets the needs of students, college preparatory efforts, high levels of community involvement, updated facilities and comprehensive fine arts and athletic programs. The State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR) system was the least important factor in determining a grade for a school district, according to a 2014 phone survey of CCISD residents.

On the day the State released its accountability ratings based on STAAR results, the school district also unveiled its community-based accountability report. “The school district and all campuses did exceed the state’s highest rating of ‘Met Standard’ and we are certainly pleased with those scores. However, our community expects and deserves more than just high ratings on standardized tests, and this report outlines how we are doing in other meaningful areas,” said Dr. Greg Smith, Superintendent of Schools.

The 30-plus page community-based report and accompanying interactive dashboard are the result of more than a year’s work as well as the district’s involvement in the Texas High Performance Consortium. This is the benchmark year and progress indicators will be developed to ensure the district is improving in each identified area.

In news related to the Texas accountability ratings, the Clear Creek Independent School District met 78 of the 79 “system safeguard indicators,” only missing one as it relates to the fact the school district refuses to place the 2% federal cap when it comes to the number of students with special needs who can take a modified state assessment. Additionally, 71 distinctions, ranging from core subjects to college readiness, were issued to campuses.
