CCISD 2012-2013 Press Release

Opt-in Emergency Text Messages for CCISD Parents

The Clear Creek Independent School District is pleased to once again offer our parents and guardians the ability to subscribe to emergency text messages. The text service is in addition to phone and email notifications and will only be used in the event of an emergency such as a school closure or a shelter-in-place.  While we certainly do not anticipate such emergencies, the district must be prepared to communicate with families as quickly as possible. District text messaging will not be used for general outreach messages.

A district-wide text message will be sent on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 after 2:00 p.m. to the cell phone number of the parents or guardians provided on your student’s registration/verification form.  Please be aware that not all verification/registration forms have been updated between 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 school years. The district will use the information on file and will automatically update the cell phone field in the event numbers have changed. Standard text message rates do apply. The message is generated from SchoolMessenger, the same communications system the District utilizes for emails and call outs. The district-wide message will read:

“Clear Creek Independent School District messages. Reply Y for aprx 3 msgs/mo. Txt HELP 4 info. Msg&data rates may apply. See”

You must opt-in by replying “Y” or “Yes” or “Optin” or “Subscribe” if you would like to receive emergency text messages from CCISD. If you do not want to receive text messages, reply with Stop.

General Questions and Answers:

Q. I did not receive an initial text on September 2, 2014?

A. It may be for one of two reasons. First, the school is in the process of updating your records for the 2014-2015 school year which may include a new mobile phone number. If this is the case, you will receive an initial text as soon as the information is updated and you should reply to the text with the “Y” or “Yes” or “Optin” or “Subscribe”. If you would like, you can also text “Optin” to 68453 and once your number is verified, you will receive emergency text messages.

The second reason may be that you did not provide a cell phone number for the cell phone field on your child’s student registration/verification form. It is becoming more common for people to use their mobile phone as the home phone number. Please make sure you enter your cell phone number in the correct field for cell phone. Text messages will not be sent to home numbers. Please contact the campus to update your records.

Q. How do I opt-out of receiving text messages?

A. Recipients not wishing to receive text messages to a particular number can simply text “Stop” to 68453 at any time or opt-out online at

Q. From what number will these text messages originate?

A. The initial text on September 2nd and subsequent alerts will come from 68453. Please save this number and program it as CCISD so you can quickly recognize this number as the official source of our messages.

Q. I did not opt-in initially, but I have changed my mind. How do I receive text messages?

A. You can subscribe to text messages at any time by sending a text which says “Y” or “Yes” or “Optin” or “Subscribe” to 68453.
