The Westbrook Intermediate Orchestra has been named the 2016 Texas Music Educators Association’s Honor Orchestra for Middle Schools for the third time.

Sheri Cole, Seabrook Intermediate teacher, is among ten finalists in Texas to be considered for the 2015 Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.

Tonia Roque, literacy coach and former Landolt Elementary teacher, and Anthony Tran, math teacher at Clear Falls High School, were recognized as Teachers of the Year in CCISD for elementary and secondary education.

Dr. Britani Moses, principal of Stewart Elementary, and Dr. Karen Engle, principal of Clear Lake High School, have been named Principals of the Year in CCISD for elementary and secondary education.

Sarah Zarcaro, coordinator of Foreign Language, was named the Secondary Administrator of the Year for the Texas Foreign Language Association.

The Clear Creek Independent School District received the highest honors from the Government Finance Officers of the United States and the Association of School Business Officials International.

Board Items of Interest

The 2015-2016 CCISD General, Debt Service, and Food Service Budget was approved with the following highlights:

  • A minimum three percent salary increase for staff and an increase in targeted stipends
  • An additional 26 teaching units to reduce class sizes across the district
  • Funds technology and maintenance capital replacement budgets
  • Increase in the District’s contribution towards health insurance premiums
  • Starting teaching salary was increased to $50,000

With these elements, the proposed budget of $315,810,668 in expenditures and $2,027,832 in surplus. The 2016 proposed total combined tax rate remains unchanged from last year at $1.40. Click here to read the entire budget.

The Board approved the recommendation for Instructional Supervisor for Professional Development Laboratory, Laura Casper-Teague.

The board completed the superintendent’s annual evaluation.

The consent agenda was approved.

The board accepted a six-year, $500,000 lease agreement with Houston Methodist St. John’s Hospital to advertise on the video scoreboard at CCISD Challenger Columbia Stadium. The scoreboard will be funded through advertising revenue.
