CCISD HONORS VOLUNTEER & PARTNER OF THE YEAR

League City – The Clear Creek Independent School District hosted a breakfast on Thursday, May 7, 2009 to honor the many volunteers and community partners who give so much to CCISD students and staff.

CCISD sustained nearly $20 million in damages from Hurricane Ike. The storm damaged 39 of our 40 schools. Help came from all corners of the community, and in some cases from out of state. Operation CRAYON (Children Rallying Assistance for Youth of Need) provided school supplies and clothes to almost 1500 families in need. The effort was possible with the help of 750 student and community volunteers. Board of Trustee Vice President Dee Scott told the crowd, “I thank you for your unforgettable kindness during and after the storm. Perhaps most importantly I thank you for setting a magnificent example for our youth.”

The CCISD Volunteer of the Year was also announced. Vicky Fransham was chosen for this honor. “This is a volunteer who may be quiet and soft spoken, but she is also a dynamo who is 100% student focused,” said Superintendent Greg Smith. Fransham is a huge supporter of Project Graduation. She also sits on the Clear Lake High School PTSA Executive Board, the Clear Creek Council of PTAs Executive Board (currently serving as Secretary), the Area 10 PTA Board of Directors 1st VP, and the Falcon Band Booster Club Executive Board.

The Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership was honored as CCISD’s Community Partner of the Year. “BAHEP continues to be one of CCISD’s most valued partners, consistently at the forefront of progress, and helping the District advance important education initiatives,” said Superintendent Greg Smith. “As the economic engine of this region, BAHEP is the reason why our district continues to grow by more than 700 new students a year.”
