CLEAR LAKE HIGH SCHOOL DEBATE TEAM VYING TO GO TO STATE
League City -- Clear Lake Speech and Debate students earned points towards the annual UIL State tournament during the Deer Park Captain’s Challenge at Deer Park High School the weekend of October 2nd and 3rd. This was a great competitive opportunity for the varsity as well as novice teams.
Kasra Ghodsi and Saam Motamedi placed 1st in cross-examination debate earning the opportunity to compete at the Texas Forensic Association state meet in El Paso in March 2010. Shree Deshpande and George Liu placed 3rd. The CX teams of Nishant Jayant and Andrew Casso and Sarwar Khan and Ankit Shukla advanced to quarter finals earning state qualifying points. Brian Berger advanced to octo-finals in Lincoln Douglas debate. Novice debater JoAnn Liang placed 3rd overall in Lincoln Douglas debate.
The debate squad will attend the Bellaire High School tournament the weekend of October 24.
Martha Anne Pierson is the coach at Clear Lake High School. Kelly Glos serves as assistant sponsor and accompanies the team to select competitions.
