Parr Elementary Fifth Graders have Breakfast with the Deputy

League City— As the Parr Elementary fifth graders entered the cafeteria for breakfast you heard whispers of “Are they wearing all green because it’s Earth Day?” It was in fact Earth Day, but Parr fifth graders were seeing the green uniforms worn by six visiting deputies and Sheriff Freddie Poor from the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office. Their visit is part of the Lions Quest curriculum all Clear Creek ISD elementary campuses are utilizing to create capable and healthy young people with a sense of direction, solid skills, and a strong commitment to their families, schools and communities.

“Breakfast with the Deputy is an opportunity for our students to get to know the deputies on our campuses and to ask questions about drugs and alcohol, personal safety, and law enforcement in general,” said Denise Crouch, Coordinator of Drug Education. The deputies and students enjoyed breakfast and sat together in small groups. Each group was lead by either a deputy or the Sheriff. This event provided the students with the opportunity to get to know each deputy and the Sheriff on a personal level.

Clear Creek ISD’s intent of hosting more Breakfast/Lunch with the Deputy in association with the Lions Quest curriculum is to provide to students with an opportunity to bond with and discover the resource of the local law enforcement.
