Prasad Understands Definition of Winner

 

League City, TEXAS— Clear Lake High School Senior Prashant Prasad will be competing at the Inaugural National Vocabulary Championship in March. He is one of fifty finalists from around the nation competing for $40,000 to apply toward college tuition. The National Vocabulary Championship takes place March 5, in New York City at the New York Public Library.

Sponsored by GSN, the leading interactive game television network, the purpose of the event is to emphasize the importance of language arts skills and encourage high school students to enhance their vocabularies. In total, more than 30,000 students nationwide participated in this inaugural year of the program.

In the finals, 50 high school students, who qualified through citywide competitions or regional exams offered nationwide, will attempt to navigate three rounds of vocabulary challenges. The event does not have a spelling element, but rewards contestants for comprehension ability. The last one standing at the end of game play will be crowned 'National Vocabulary Champion 2007.'
