PTA Founder's Day Dinner

League City --- The Clear Creek Community Council of PTAs held their Annual PTA Founder’s Day Dinner at Clear Springs High School on February 7, 2008. Attendees were welcomed with Valentine’s Day decorations of stuffed animals, heart balloons and books, following the theme of this year’s event: “Hearts in Education”. The evening’s menu of Chicken Marsala, Pasta and Caesar Salad was catered by Carrabba’s Italian Grille. Poonam Tulsiani, Council Hospitality Chair, would like to thank Carrabba’s for their excellent food and service.
Lisa Holbrook, CCCC of PTAs President, spoke to the crowd of 140 after the Presentation of Colors was made by the Clear Springs HS JROTC. Ms. Holbrook thanked Principal Gail Love and the Clear Springs PTSA for their hospitality in hosting the evening’s event. Ms. Imogene Brummerhop, one of the original founders of PTA in the Clear Creek School District, was recognized and warmly welcomed. Ms. Brummerhop delighted the crowd with a brief overview of how Council was formed back in 1950.
Ms. Holbrook announced the formation of the newest local PTA, Abundant Life Center PTSA, affiliated with Shekinah Radiance Academy in La Marque and welcomed PTSA President Veronica Washington and Executive Board Member, Kim August. TX PTA Region 2 Vice President, Melodye Davis, Past Council Presidents, DISD Assistant Superintendent, Vicki Mims, many CCISD School Principals, (some with their spouses), and CCISD Administration were also noted in attendance and welcomed by Ms. Holbrook.
The Honorary Membership Committee, Mary Gibson, Jamie West and Wendy Nifong, presented three awards during the evening’s program. Annette Dwyer and Jeff Turner were honored with Texas PTA Life Memberships for their outstanding service to the children and youth of Texas. Ms. Dwyer currently serves on the boards of CCCC of PTAs and North Pointe Elementary PTA, as well as other organizations in the community. Mr. Turner is an active volunteer for youth organizations with his company, Bay Area Printing, and is also a generous sponsor of multiple PTAs and booster clubs. CCCC President Lisa Holbrook was presented the National PTA Life Achievement Award, (the highest honor a PTA can bestow), in recognition of her long-standing and ongoing commitment and devotion to children. Ms. Holbrook currently serves on the boards of CCCC of PTAs, Clear Lake High School PTSA, the Falcon Band Booster Club, as well as many other organizations in the community. We appreciate the dedication of these outstanding volunteers!
Thanks to the wonderful donors and bidders, the PTA Founder’s Day Silent Auction raised a total of $1,900.00. These proceeds will fund programs that will benefit the children, teachers and parents served by CCCC of PTAs. Auction Chairman, Patty Rogers-Cooper, would especially like to thank: City Nails, South Shore Harbour Resort, Allen Samuels Chrysler Jeep, Adventure Family Dentistry, TAACL, Nana’s Attic, Advantage BMW, South Shore Harbour Country Club, J. Pamela Photography, The Center for Family Medicine, Uniform Trends, and Awards of Distinction for their generous donations to this silent auction.
