About Us

Kids come first! At Ferguson, we are committed to always making decisions in the best interest of the students we so proudly serve. We recognize the very important role we as educators play in the lives of children and we vow to take this responsibility very seriously.

The teachers at Ferguson are committed to the academic success of each student. In the 2014 school year, Ferguson Elementary students scored high on the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR), with 93% passing in reading and 92% passing in mathematics.

Our teachers meet weekly with their teaching teams to collaborate and design relevant, engaging and rigorous lessons which provide our students with the experiences and opportunities they need to find success on essential skills. Our staff commits to using many forms of student data to drive further instruction to meet the needs of our students. As teachers at Ferguson, we commit to being lifelong learners and engaging in professional development, which enables us to continually respond to our students.

We celebrate our students’ successes at Ferguson, not just academically but also in the many ways our students contribute as citizens to their school and local community. Our students are immersed in character education lessons and activities, which provide opportunities for students to create a positive culture amongst their school peers, as well as having a positive impact on the world outside of our school walls. Some examples of these opportunities include enrichment clusters, K-2 Peace Helpers Club, No Place for Hate committee, Career Day, International Fair and Student Council. It is our goal to present students with many opportunities that help them realize their personal passions and strengths and how these contribute positively to the world around them.

At Ferguson, we truly believe the success of students is achieved through a quality relationship between school and home. We strive to ensure that our families feel welcomed and engaged in the success of their children at school. In a 2014 email survey, 95% of our parents gave Ferguson an A or B in the category of Community and Parental Involvement Opportunities. Both parents and staff gave our school high marks regarding overall perception of education quality at Ferguson:

Our dedicated PTA works hard to support and provide for all students. Their fundraising efforts have provided many resources for our literacy library and school library, instructional materials for classrooms, beautiful murals in our library, cafeteria, entry and great hall, as well as maintained our stunning bird and butterfly garden. This dedicated team of parents volunteers countless hours to help our school meet the needs of all of our students.

Our mission at Ferguson is to be a part of a community that partners with parents to educate children by encouraging and inspiring them to discover their strengths while nurturing self-confidence in a safe environment. We value knowledge, high self-esteem and believe every student can be successful.

Our staff spends time each year analyzing our school’s purpose and beliefs for students. At Ferguson, we believe:

-    We can empower self-directed individuals
